- On Joomla 4, installing or updating any extension no longer fails. The update plugin expected a newer Joomla's event object, so on Joomla 4 it broke every package download on the site, including Install from URL and other vendors' updates, not only Next File Manager's own. Checked against Joomla 4.4, 5.4 and 6.1.
- The warning that the update plugin is switched off now reaches people who work in fullscreen, where it had been discarded before it could be shown.
- The plugin's own description no longer claims Next File Manager re-enables it automatically, a promise that was printed on the very screen where it had been switched off.

- Updates now download from inside Joomla. Next File Manager is a paid product, so the store checks which site is asking before it serves a package, and Joomla's updater sends nothing that identifies one. The update appeared in the Updates list and then failed on download with "Unable to verify your domain". A small bundled plugin now supplies the site address, and only the address.
- You are told when that plugin is switched off or missing, with the action that puts it right. Without it an update still appears but can never be downloaded, so the warning stays on screen until somebody acts on it.

- Next File Manager no longer switches its update plugin back on by itself. It used to quietly reverse the change and report a repair that, in fullscreen, nobody ever saw. Switching off a plugin is a decision, so it is now reported rather than undone. A fresh install still arrives with the plugin on, because Joomla stores every newly installed plugin switched off; updating an existing site never overrides your choice.
- Installing on a site that is too old is refused instead of succeeding and then failing at runtime. The requirements are PHP 8.1 and Joomla 4.4, and both are checked together, each naming what is needed against what the site actually has, so one attempt tells you everything you have to change. Whatever is already installed is left untouched.
- The file manager opens faster. Fullscreen used to download and start the whole application once, purely to throw it away and start again; the choice is now settled before the application loads. The text editor and the image viewer are also fetched only when you open one, taking roughly 750 KB off every session that never does.

- Next File Manager now requires PHP 8.1 or newer and Joomla 4.4 or newer. Both were already true in practice; the installer simply says so now, rather than letting an old site install a copy that cannot run.
- If you deliberately switch the update plugin off, one-click updating stops working. That is now visible in the administrator instead of being silently corrected.
