Why Choose It

Next Boards suits teams that want Kanban project and task boards inside the Joomla site they already have, with the user accounts they already have.

It is likely a good fit if

• You already use Joomla, or are happy to
• You want your boards, cards and files in your own database and on your own server
• You want to give people access through their Joomla accounts, with or without backend access
• You want several views of the same work: Kanban, List, Calendar and Roadmap
• You want to enable only the apps you need

It may not be the right fit yet if

• You run on PostgreSQL. Next Boards needs MySQL or MariaDB.
• Your site is older than Joomla 4.4 or PHP 8.1. The installer stops with a message on Joomla older than 4.4, or on PHP 8.0 or older. See Installation.
• You want an app from the App Store or Google Play. Next Boards is a web app. It can be added to the home screen when the site administrator has switched that on.
• You need offline use without HTTPS. Browsers do not allow installation or offline storage on plain HTTP, except on localhost.
• You need full administration on a phone. The phone app keeps to everyday work. Board settings, automation, the List, Calendar and Roadmap views, the dashboard, reports and administration are in the full version.
• You need automations that work across boards. An automation only works on the cards of its own board, and is not part of a board export, a duplicate or a template.
• You cannot run Joomla's Scheduled Tasks. E-mails and reminders need them. See Scheduled tasks.
• You need AI features today. They are Coming soon.
